Whether you have no equipment, have minimal room, are on vacation or just getting started, exercise bands are a great tool for the beginner to the advanced user. Let's take a look at some benefits of bands.

Space
If you have limited space at home or wherever you work out, bands take up virtually no space and weigh very little. When not in use, they can be thrown into a small box or corner of the room or be hung up on a small hook.
Price
Compared to traditional equipment, bands are an extremely affordable option. You can purchase a set of resistance bands from a local sporting goods store (Dicks, Walmart, etc.) or from online retailers like Amazon for around $20-$40 for a set of 5 different resistances, usually ranging from 10-50lbs of resistance.
Portability
Going on vacation? Have to travel for business for a few days? No problem! Bands can be brought with you very easily to hotels and on airlines. They're a great way to take your workout with you when you're out of your ordinary workout routine.
Getting Started
Resistance bands can be less intimidating that dumb bells and especially less than barbells. And if you're just starting out, they can still provide challenging workouts. Lighter bands tend to be less taxing on the body than similar weight dumb bells, which brings us to our next point.
Recovery
Resistance bands are a great tool for those who still want to get a workout in but are on their rest day. Just a quick band workout can stimulate the muscle building signal for your body. They also are great for recovering from an injury. Typically you need to move the injury to recover faster and that's hard to do sometimes with heavy weights. With resistance bands you can add some tension to basic exercises to help recover faster. They generally cause less muscle damage than traditional weights so there isn't that 24-48 hour muscle soreness that would normally occur.
In conclusion, bands are extremely versatile in their applications and have a virtually endless list of exercises and modifications that can suit any lifestyle and fitness level. Whether you can lift 50 or 500 pounds, bands can benefit your training. I recommend everyone have a set of resistance bands available, even if you have a full home gym.
