About Me
Motivated To Help
My name is Dennis Collins and I’ve changed my life through proper nutrition and exercise. Like many people, I was overweight and didn’t eat properly or exercise regularly. Then in 2018 I signed up for a 5k run. When I couldn’t complete the race without stopping to catch my breath, I knew that was when I had to make a change. So I began running. I ran a lot, and cut my calories way too low. It worked for a while and then my weight loss stalled and I had no where to go. I couldn’t lower my calories any more, I was tired all the time from running so much and not feeding my body enough. I was in limbo for almost a year, I was “skinny fat.”
Then in 2020, with the help of a personal trainer friend, I was taught proper nutrition and proper exercise through strength training. I haven’t looked back! And now I want to share what I’ve learned and help people reach their goals too!

About Me
Motivated To Help
My name is Dennis Collins and I am the founder / owner at Positive Winergy. I am a certified personal trainer and certified nutrition coach. My fitness journey began back in 2018 when I found myself wondering how I got so out of shape. Years of neglect, minimal exercise and not caring what I ate got me to a point where I was considered obese, I’m 5’ 9” and was 225lbs, I had no energy and I hated how I looked. My wife Lisa was a big supporter in my journey, always trying to get me to go to her gym and take a class. I finally did, and that changed my life! The trainers at the gym were so welcoming and encouraging to me and that gave me some confidence.
I started running, beginning with a 5k here and there and then moved to 10k’s and then half marathons. I ran for the majority of 2018 and all of 2019 and completed multiple marathons as well. You would think all was great, however it wasn’t a sustainable trend. I hit a plateau in my weight loss from only doing cardio and under consuming calories. I hovered around 160lbs for about a year. I then began strength training with a personal trainer in 2021 and saw another transformation when I was introduced to a new way of eating combined with strength training. At the end of 2021 I saw my weight increase to 170lbs, yet I looked leaner because I was strength training and tracking what went into my body in the correct portions. I still run to keep my cardio fitness healthy, and I lift weights regularly, but most importantly, I’m consistent with my nutrition. I don’t think of it as a diet, but a positive lifestyle change.
I started Positive Winergy initially because I have found exercise has helped me become more confident, feel better, look better and just have a more positive overall outlook on life. I had great mentors like Rossie (my first coach) and Sonia (my personal trainer) who belived I could, so I wanted to try and help others experience that as well. Exercise is a proven stress reducer and I have definitely experienced a reduction in my anxiety and stress and I want others to see how much of a benefit exercise can have, other than just losing weight. Seeing the people I train feeling better and reaching their goals motivates me and makes me feel good.
My goals with Positive Winergy are to help clients get where they want to be. Developing a reputation as a friendly, reliable, accountable and honest trainer is very important to me. With so much conflicting information in the fitness industry, I can help weed out all the workout fads and “diets” and provide clarity into what really works. Whatever a clients goal, I can personalize their diet and workout programming while also being able to give them their individual attention because of a limited number of openings.
